FIRE BRIGADES' CONFERENCE
Per Press Association. Masterton, Tuesday. At the sixteenth annual meeting of the United Fire Brigades Accident Assurance Society, held this morning, the president's report showed increase of funds amounting to £154 during the year, bringing the credit balance of the society to £1321. Rule 20, respecting the dissolution j>f the Society, was amended to provide for-the payment of a sum not exceeding £4O (instead of .C2O), into the benefit fund at the end of the year after liabilities had been provided' for. A new rule was added that Imiiii lide messengers of lire brigades should lie admitted us members for full risks only in the accident society. Officers were elected as follows: —President, Capt. King; vice-presi-dents, Cupt. Jenkins (Masterton) and Capt. Spriggins; secretary, Mr. J. Gilherd.
Masterton, Last Night. 'To-day was an off-day at the Fire Brigade Conference, no business being transacted. The delegates were taken for a drive down the. Lower Valley and back. Business will be resumed at 0 o'clock to-morrow morning. The Conference lias granted Hydrantman Church, of Masterton, a gold star for twenty-live years' service.
