The Wanganui autumn meeting will he concluded today. Ihlaiido won the Wanganui Cup from end to end. and easily staved oil' many determined challengers. The little son (if Ihlaiido galloped ill great style, an I Implied full of running, a twu-nml-a-half lengths winner, in the good time of 3uiin 3 4-jscc. Considering that heavy rain fell just prior to the running of tile tup race, I'hlando's performance, was full of merit, and' his owner-trainer is to lie conpliiueiited upon the splendid victory. May he keep on winning! Splendid Idea got a poor start ill the Flying Uandicap on Thursday, which completely extinguished' her chance, hut she is in good 101111 at present, and may have Wetter luck in a smaller field.
Contour put up a fair performance when she won the Tetre Hack Handicap. She did not get away well, hut came with a great run at the finish, and caught) Carissima twenty yards from home. The same pair meet in the Ifatarawa Mack Handicap to-day. Daisy Paul showed a Hash of her old dash in winning the Wiritoa Handicap, /.nd is in great nick just now. The Pilgrim's Progress colt Hunyan scored in the Juvenile on Thursday from Lady Menscdiikott, and will lie given a run in the Jackson StaKes to-day. Maui had ,111 easy win in the big Hurdles on the opening day, and is evidently a greatly improved gelding. Aorangi had hard luck to strike siuh a good-'nn as Ataahua in the Tayforth Hack Hurdles, hut was much too good for the others.
Marguerite found the Wanganni Cup too far for her. but she has been gallop, ing in great style with Gold Crest, and has been left in the Wanganui Stakes.
Ataahua and Daisy Paul, two winners on Thursday, have accepted for the Harrison Hack Race. Cyrene was one of the unfortunate ones in the Flying Handicap, but with a letter start might have troubled the leaders. "
Kiteheiimaid ran a good race on Thursday in the Flying, but would be letter suited by a dry course. The usual budget of sporting notes appears in to-day's supplement.
