Developments at Newcastle are anxiously awaited. There is a growing feeling that the miners will not persist in their attitude regarding camera evidence if a crisis can be averted.
ENGLISH SHIPBUILDING STRIKE. TERMS REJECTED. London, March a. The iHtllut of the shipbuilding engineers of the north-west coast rejected by a large majority the terms of settlement of the strike propo»ed by Mr. D. Lloyd-George, president of the Board of trade. Mr Lloyd-George and Mr. G. X. Barney secretary or the Amalgamated Society of Engineers, arc again conferring with a view to arranging terms.
SEAMEN'S WAGES. Wellington, Friday. It is understood the shipowners have conceded the men's demands for an extra 10s per month. They rejected thc preference to unionists clause. They have submitted a moderate scheme for overtime pay, which has been forwarded to the Union's delegates for consideration.

Mr. ljomas. of the Labor Department, forwarded to Mr. Pritcliard. acting-secre-tary of the Blackball Miners' Union, yesterday the following.—"The Court of Arbitration lias fixed. Wednesday, llth March, for the hearing of proceedings instituted under section l.i of the Industrial Arbitration Act Amendment Bill. 190-). inder subsection (b) of section Ml of the principal Act proceedings for a breach of an award may he taken either by the Inspector of Awards or by any party to an award. I was instructed by the .Minister of to inform you that if you desire to submit any grounds upon which you allege a breach of your award or of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act has been committed by the Blackball Coal Company, tliese grounds will Ik- at once considered, and if th.-y dischw a prima laeic case against th" company, I. as Inspector of Awards, will institute proceedings to be heard on 'Wednesday next lwfore. with, or after the pending proceedings against your union. Under section 15 above referred to, I am also directed to point out to you that under the said paragraph (b) alx>v« mentioned your union may itself institute proceedings against the company lor any breach of the award or of the Act your union may complain of.
