Sangar's Bill, providing for the cniranchisement of women (which is identical with the Bill introduced by Mr. W. H. Dickinson some time ago) was read a Second time.

Hon. H. Gladstone, Home Secretary, without committing the Government, personally supported the measure. The majority included Sir Edward Grey (Foreign" Secretary), Hon. John Morley (Secretary for" India), Hon. Richard Haldane (Secretary for War). Hon. John Burns (President Loeil Government Board). Hon. Lloyd-George '(President of the Board of Trad* l. H». Sidney Buiton < Postmaster-General*, the Hon. R. R. Cherry, ami the Hon. W. Runciman (Financial Secretary of the Treasury). The minority included Hon. H. H. A*quith (Chancellor of the Exchequer), Sir ,W. S. Robson (Solicitor-General), Mr. J. H. Evans, Hon. Lewis Harcourt (First Commissioner of Works), and the Hon. John Sinclair (Secretary for Scotland).

The BUI was remitted to a committee of the whole House. This is' considered equivalent to shelving it. The Suffragists have resolved to agitate and urge the bringing in of a Government Bill to ensure its passage.
