Twenty Congregationalist leaders, either chairmen of Unions or heads of colleges, have signed a manifesto to the chinches affirming their faith in the Christian doctrine, to which they intend to adhere, though they welcome the progress of evangelical theology. The Rev. R. J. Campbell, in replying to this manifesto in the course of a "sermon at the City Temple, said this attempt tu allay the theological unrest would prove as futile as the pupal encyclical against modernism.
