THE BRITISH NAVY.
A BIG INCREASE ANTICIPATED. London, February 25. The Times says that although the navy estimates exhibit the normal increase of this represent 11 real increase of under £ 14,000, the rest beingautomatic and inevitable.
The Times implies that the Government has reduced the orig'ml estimates to £500,000 below the point which the Admiralty considered advisable.
All the newspapers realise that the naval programme with its small increase is only temporary, and anticipate a great increase in 1909. EFFICIENCY IN G I'XX EllY. London, February 25. Lord Twecdmouth'.s memorandum concerning the navy states that a Sound knowledge of long range shooting is thoroughly permeating the British fleet.
