ROOM FOR GERMANS
SPEECH BY QUEENSLAND'S PREMIER. RECEPTION OF GERMAN OFFICERS. Received 23th, 11.40 p.m. Brisbane, February 25. Mr. Kidston, the Premier, speaking at a reception to the officers of a German cruisers, said if the officer* were visiting England, the naval officers and English gentleman would doubtless welcome tliem frankly and heartily, knowing full well that at some time in the near future they might meet them on the battlefield That, however, was not the feeling with which those present greeted their guests. They had 111 the Australian States a much broader view of things. He hoped the people would come round to Australia's view of the matter. They in Australia did not know the Germans and Englishmen. They were just as glad to see the Germans as English come to Australia. There was room in Queensland for many more Germans.
