SHIP ENGINEERS' STRIKE.

MR. LLOYD-GEORGE'S GOOD OFFICES. Received 23rd, 4.10 p.m. London, February 22Mr. Lloyd-George's efforts to settle the engineers' strike is progressing. THE EMPLOYERS' INTENTIONS. STRIKERS OBDURATE. Received 23rd, 4.16 p-iu. London, February 22. It transpires that the shipbuilding employers have decided, owing to the distress arising out of the depression of trade, to continue to employ, as circumstawes permit, men of trades In which there is no dispute. Hence the lock-out notices to those who accepted the modified reduction has been withdrawn, but the employers insist upon the shipwrights, who are on strike, accepting the Clyde rates. The strikers reply to this to the effect that it is equivalent to a reduction of 3* per week. They are determined not to resume work.
