RHODES SCHOLAR.
CANDIDATE SELECTED. fey Press Association. Wellington .Last Night. The Rhodes scholar selection* committee met to-day at Government House, Lord Plunket presiding, to select the New Zealand Rhodes scholar for 1908. The committee's choice fell upon Mr. Ziman, of the Auckland University. Mr. Ziman began his school career at Clyde Quay school, Wellington, and then went to Newton West school, Auckland. In 1897 he won a junior foundation scholarship at the Auckland Grammar School, and m 1900 secured a Senior district scholarship. Three years later h e opened his university career with a junior university scholarship. In 1905 he won the Sir George Grey Scholarship in pure and applied mathematics and physical science. In 1908 he passed his final examination for the Bachelor of Science degree. Mr. Ziman has taken part in the cadet movement, and Has a «ood athletic record. "
