NEW SALEYARDS AT INGLEWOOD

The Inglewood Record of vesterda ■ report* that on Wednesday' Mr. W, -Matthews held the first sale" in Messrs. \kkers and Stevens' new yards near the corner of the Dudley and Mountain roads. The use of the old yards in the borough was discontinued owing to th? objections of the Health Department. The new yards, says our contemporary, 1 are most convenient and commodious. j Kvery care that years of experience in | ihe stock sales line could suggest has '■- -n taken for the benelit of clients. are reached from the Dudley "-Me entrance, well formed fully nirf'TJTT iJrSiatff"'•" I '"™;' :>ree large gates, those on the ri*nT~ and left leading to large holding paddocks. The third (the centre one) leads into a 12-foot metalled road taking th.', cattle along to the races, which connect direct with the cattle and sheep pens, each pen having its own gate, which in turn when open forms a complete gate to that portion of the race, so that an animal once in the race cannot get out save by going into the pen of which the gate is open for the purpose. There arc in all eighty pens formed in two squares, one inside the other, with the selling pen in the centre, the outside square being formed of sheep and horse pens and the inside square of cattle pen*, a complete race surrounding the inner square, and giving access to all the outer pens of the cattle and the inner pens of the sheep area; each pen along both outer and inner area being provided with gates completely blocking the race, when opened, a* those in the inner area. The approach and all roads and races are heavily metalled and liberally blinded wita line screenings, so as to give at on.* a tiroi and dry as well as an even and comfortable floor. Everything that comfort and convenience could require are to I* found there: and although tlic yards are outside the borough, the Record predicts that their convenience, cleanliness, and stability will tend to a large increase of busies in the immediate future.
