CHALLENGING THE ENFORCEMENT OP AN ACT. MORE ARRESTS. Received 14th, 9.54 p.m. London, February 14. The authorities hinting of the exist J ence of an Act of Charles 11. prohibiting more than ten to approach Parliament with n. petition, Mesdaines Pankhurst and Kenny and eleven others, in order to challenge its enforcement, left Cnxton Hall for St. Stephen's, and declined to disperse. Ten who were arrested were disappointed because they wore not prosecuted under the Act. They were merely charged with obstructing and resisting the police. Received 15th, 12-35 a.m. London, February 14. iMr. Herbert Gladstone stated in the House of Commons that the Suffragists ■,cnn leave prison when they choose to give sureties.
