Received Feb. 7, 10.30 p.m. London, February 7. _ Mr. Holland moved that it is highly important and in the interest of trade and commerce that the Board of Trade should be raised to a Secretaryship of Mate. * Mr. Andrew llouar Law seconded the motion. The Right Hon. H. H. Asquith, Chancellor of the Exchequer, admitted the desirability of raising the status of the Board, and advised an inquiry relative to the status and emolument of all departments, also relative to the redistribution of duties with a view to iamcreasing efficiency all round. Mr. George Barnes.-Labor member for Masgow, urged the appointment of a Minister of Labor in order to avoid conflicting with and the overlapping of the different authorities. The amendment was withdrawn.
