The Sportsman gives the following description of the match between the Xew Zoalanders and Wales:— fl 'The' All Blacks opened their international engagements by meeting at, Aberdare a team which on paper is supposed to represent Wales. Only I three players, however, had ever -figured in Welsh amateur first-class football. The remainder can be described as 'good old 'lins-bocns.' who in club football were never considered worthy of a place in the country's teams. About 10" viewed the match, for the first fewminutes the N'ow Zcalandcis had the better of mailers. .Messenger and Turtill were prominent with some clever kicking. Playing the five-eighths game, the vistors commanded an advantage. Kelly, after a brilliant bout of passim;, scored for the Blacks. P,y some clover 'finessing' play the home' team unl a pretty trv. which the kicker failed to convert. The New Zcalnndors were now playing for all they were worth. There was another flash in the pan. \V. Wynyard scored a trv, which was converted. Wales attacked 'slveniionslv till halftime, but could not cross ihe line. In the second spell Wales went off with a bang. Their forwards did well. Francis, their Bradford serummager. who was doing some rovinir work, eventually scored a pietlv try, which ngnin wis not converted. Wales was now a (-oiipic of points behind. The excitement was at fever pitch. Answering the cry of thousands, 'Play up. Wales!' Uw home team rose to the occasion, and iu«l on the close of play Jones, nn old Wl'sh intcrnation >l. was pushed across Ihe | line. Wales thus won by a point."
