NEW ZEALANDERS v. SALVURD. Received sth, 10.45 p.m. London, February 5.. . The New Zealandcrs, says the Sportsman, seemed to put forth their best efforts against their strongest opponents! In meeting Salford they were thought, to have an exceedingly difficult task, but, playing thoroughly good won by a convincing margin of three tries to one goal. Playing with the wind in their favor, the colonials soon became aggressive, and after Messenger had failed to land a goal from a mark, R. Wynyard crossed the homo line after I a lino run by Rowe. Tho hard grouud' ivas evidently to the liking of t] le Blacks, who maintained a marked superiority, and, before the interval, Messenger put on a second try. After change of ends Salford were more conspicuous,, but the only real advantage they gained l was a goal kicked by Lornas from nearthe half-way line. The New Zenlandcr.sc however, more than hold their own, and! before the close added a third trv through Wrigley.
