CONGREGATIONAL ONION.
ANNUAL SESSION. Per Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The annual session of the Council of the Sew Zealand Congregational Union was commenced yesterday in the Terrace Church. A meeting of the committee was held at 10 a.m., and at 11 a.m. a devotional meeting was conducted by the Rev. W. Day. At noon the first business meeting oi Uic Council was held. 'Hie committee reported that it received with regret an intimation from the Rev. W. Saunders that. his health would not permit him to fulfil the duties Qf president of the Union during 1908. Under tlie circumstances the unanimous choice of the committee fell upon the R>v. David llird, M.A., of Trinity OluiHi, (hristehurch. The following officebearers were elected:—Report Io English and colonial journals, Rev. W. Day; correspondent to "Outlook," Rev." A. K. Hunt; reference committee. Revs J [{ (ilasson, w. 4 Evans, A. li Hunt, and K l.rifbtlis; finance committee the outgoing committee, with the Hon. G. f'owlils and Messrs. A. Lindsay, A. w! Lewis W. 1«\ Jiggers, L. W. Thornton] and C. V. i-cijolm; minute secretary, Rev. (). Heiglnvay; corresponding secretary. Rev, J. h. Mackenzie. There was a large attendance in the evening, when the president delivered hi* inaugural address.
