PRESENTATION TO THE PREMIER.
RAILWAY SERVANTS' APPRECIATION. Per Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Sir Joseph \Yard, Prime Minister and Minister of Railways, was waited upon at his residence this evening by delegates from the Amalgamated Society of : Railway Servants, and presented with an address on behalf of the members. The address is in album form, in red morocco with heliotrope mounting, and is handsomely illustrated and embroidered with kowhai ilowers and views of New Zealand scenery. It states that the member* of the' society wish to convey their high appreciation of the many and valued concessions which Sir Joseph Ward has secured for the service during tlie periods he has been Ministerial head n! the Department. "By resolution of the society it has been resolved to present to you this address in appreciation ol your successful efforts in establishing the Government Railways Superannuation Fund, the raising of the standard ol wage, the introduction of the 48 hoti.V work for the staff, and the many other concessions which the service now enjoys. The rapid expansion of the service during the past few years has imposed upon us more arduous duties and responsibilities, hut it has been to us a matter of great congratulation in feel, ing that you have ever extended to the staff a kindly and considerate feeling, which is deeply appreciated. We also desire to congratulate you upon, accession to the Premiership, and trust th it you may be spared many years in which to continue your good work in the interests of the Dominion and its people."
