Mr. W. T. Jennings iI.P., lias returned from his tour of the King Country. -Ur. Jacob iUarx, ol ilaugatoki, well known in public lite in Soutu Taranaki, has been requested to contest the Egmont seat at the next general election. The district officers will pay an official visit to the Loyal Egmont and Loyp.l Excelsior Lodges, 1.0.0. F., this evening, and it is hqped that there will be a good attendance of members or both lodges to receive them. At St. Joseph's Church alter vespirj on Sunday, Rev. Father Maciuaims invited the congregation to assemble jn the schoolroom, where he would, on be. liult' of the church committee and cuii. gregalion, make a presentation to jNlessrs J. Clarke and Buckley, the secretaries of the recent very succession bazaar, Father Macmanus spoke of tne remarkable ability, self-saerince and devotion to the which these young men had shown and which had been fully demonstrated by the result—a credit balance of over £4OO. Mr. W. U. Jlalone also spoke, and expressed his keen appreciation of the work done by the secretaries. The gifte were a silvermounted walking-stick to Mr. Clarke, and a silver-mounted pipe to Mr, Bust I ley., , ;
