FIRE AT SUNNYSIDE ASYLUM.

OhrisTchurch, Tuesday. At 2 o'clock this morning an alarming tire occurred at iiie bakehouse of the Snnnyside Mental Hospital. All the engines of the Clirislehurch, Sydenham, St. Albans, and Railway brigades were summoned, ami came on the spot as soon as possible. The establishment possesses excellent lire appliances of its own, and the attendants were able to keep the fire in check till the arrival of aid from the city. The fire burned strongly for half an hour, and a portion of the roof fell in; but the brigades were able to prevent more than su]>erncial damage being done to the front portion of the office building. Only the bakehouse and kitchen were destroyed. The officers of the institution had an anxious time, but the patients were never in any danger. The /ire, Ijcyond dislocating the domestic economy temporarily, will have no serious result. I
