ASIATICS IN THE TRANSVAAL.
THE GOVERNMENT CLIMBING! DOWN. Received 17th, 11.8 p.m. London, January 27. The Daily Tcuegraph's Johannesburg correspondent states that the Govero-i ment is realising the seriousness of the situation, and has decided to completely reconsider the whole attitude towards Asiatics The Government appoints a Supreme Court judge to examine the objections to the Registration Act, a sys< tern of identification without offending. This system is presumably on the lines successfully followed by Lord Milner in 1903. , The law, it is stated, will be amended! next session. The Act meanwhile will be in abeyance. It is presumed the Go-l vermnent will be assured of the Oppo-. sition's strong support in carrying out their courageous decision.
