About the usual number of representative buyers were present, and bidding was spirited, particularly for anything favorable. Merino was practically unrepresented, only a few odd lots being offered. The wool most in demand was halfbred and line crossbred, particularly crossbred. Hoggets elicited strong competition right through and eold at higher rates than anticipated. Brokers and vendors were prepared for an all-round drop on last years prices, but this was less noticeable in these finer classes of wool. Fine i crossbred reached as high as lly,d. and halfbred U%d.
