SWIMMING.
Tie swimming sports organised by Mrs. W. L. Newman for the.encouragement o£ swimming amongst schoolgirls eventuated very successfully on Saturday. Mr. Newman acted as starter, and Mr. D. Ogilvy as handicapper The girls fought out the uiUereut events gamely, and there were some close finishes. Results: —
liu'yds, under 15. —First heat: Nora Crozier (scrj 1, Myra Stohr (4sec) 2. Second heati Elsie White 1, Elsie Gilueu 2. Final: Elsie White 1, Nora Crozier 2.
33yd«, 13 years and under. First heat: Myra Stohr 1, Elsie White 2. Second heat: Annie Bullard 1, Nellie White 2. Final: Myra Stohr 1, Nellie White 2.
33yds, 11 years and under. —Annie Bullard 1, Nellie White 2.
Water-chute Diving.—Maggie Bullard 1, Ivy Thompson 2. Springboard Dive.—lvy Thompson 1, Nora Crozier and Elsie White (dead heat) 2.
Nearly all of the competitors received their tuition in the art of swimming ot the municipal baths.
The New Plymouth Swimming Club will conduct tne following events on Thursday afternoon at the Rowing Chib's opening at Moturoa: —j 100 yds swimming race for men, oOydß for men, diving competition, 50yds swimming race for boys under 16.
