AMUSEMENTS.
"LADY MADCAP.'' A bumper house greeted the appearance of "Lady Madcap'' before a Jxew Plymouth audience last night. This laughable musical play, which has been a prime favorite wherever produced, made a most pleasant impression right frpjn the rising of the curtain, and that impression was improved upon as the story was told. The unfolding of tne tale was framed in beautiful surroundings, the scenery and appointments Doing on a lavish scale and the dressing superb. it was a genuine mirth-pro-voker, the audience following with zest and enjoyment the prinks of the viva* cious Daisy Wallace in the title role. As Lady Betty Claridge site had a very full part, but never for one instant did she fail to attract and amuse. Mr Myles Clifton was fairly continuously before the footlights as Oroya Brown, " alias Private Smith, and his comedy was excellent. The piece abounded in delightful situations, sparkling repartee, clever dancing, and excellent singin-g, whilst the orchestral work added not a little to the effect. "Lady Madcap" sent away the audience in an excellent humor.
