DISASTROUS FIRE.
IN 11LENHEIA1. Per Press Association. Blenheim. Thursday. A tire broke-out in Beuning's block, but it is not known exactly where, and was probably burning some time before the alarm was given. It practically burned till stopped by brick walls, and was one of the largest lires that have occurred in the town. There was a firirly stroll;; wind blowing at the time. Ansticc's (draper) was soon enveloped, as was Beuning's large grocery, also Reynolds' cycle shop. When the Masonic Hotel caught the heat was so greal as to sometimes drive the firemen to eov.-r. Nothing was saved from the shops above.
The fire swept everything along Wyucii-stret'l to ltoiirke's brick wind store on the one side and Sowman's grocery on the other. By (i.45 it was practically overcome. The telephone and gas services were disarranged for some hours.
