AUCKLAND v. NEW SOUTH WALES. « ; AN EXCITING MATCH. Received Jan. 22, 9.12 p.m. Sydney, January 22. The test match between the Auckland bowlers and a team representing the New South Wales Association was played at Balmain in fine, cool weather. It wai a four-rink game. The local players had slightly the best of the first ten heads, and then the visiting rinks began to assert themselves, although not till the 20th head did the second rink, akippedby Laurie, get a lead. When all bat the first rink was finished the scores stood—Auckland 32, New South Wales 70.
Attention was then centred on Harriiob's risk. Excitement ran high as to whether they could maintain the advantage gained. It waa neck and neck; first the visitors and then the locals were point down. Again they stood leveL This was tne position of the total when the last head was entered. Harrison was one behind. He had an admirable opponent in Strong, but the Aucklander's coolness won him the game, hoores:—
