He sa-w active service in the Maori War, and was captain of the Alexandra Cavalry, He was a prominent member of several local bodies) and took a keen interest in horse-racing, at one time being a breeder and racing several horses.

The Rev. Ernest Warburton, wellknown throughout the Primitive Methodist Church of the Dominion, died at Auckland yesterday morning. He had' been ailing for some time. At the recent conference in Dunedin it was noti« fied that the Rev. Warburton was seriously ill, and had applied for superannuation. The application was unanimously recommended to the English authorities, and the Conference placed <oi record its high appreciation of the Rev. Mr Warburtoo's noble and selfsacrificing services.
