METHODIST CONFERENCE

Dunedm, Last NighU At the Primitive Methodist Conference at Thursday night's sitting, it was resolved that it be a recommendation to the circuits to consider a request of the Methodist Preachers' Association for one collection during the year towards the general fund of the Association. It was decided to forward a letter of thanks to a gentleman who had present, ed the church with a house and land for church purposes at Porirua. On tha motion of the Rev. J. Cocker, it was reJ Solved that for purposes of represen|tak tion at the conference a home mission ary shall Have the same status as ai* minister. The Temperance Council wrote urging the conference to join in combination with the Council in its efforts to influence the no-license polls at the end of the year, and asked thai!" wherever possible the arrangement be made for exchange of pulpits, and that ministers he sot free for temperance work at the no-license polls. It was resolved that the request- he complied with as far as possible. It was resolved on the motion of Mr Bellringer, "That the conference expresses its fullest sympathy_ with every effort made to destroy the liquor traffic in the Dominion, and urges its people to pratf* and work for the complete removal' of this obstacle to the spread of the Kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ."
