Per Press Association. A MAORI'S SUICIDE. Hastings, Friday. A .Maori named l'angataki Cooper, ai'ed 30 years, was fouud hanging to a tree by a tart rein round the neck at Waipaku pa tins morning. He was intoxicated last niglit. He quarrelled with his family and then disappeared.
DEATII Of A FIRE-FIUHTER. Christehurch, Friday. \V J. Moon, who was badly burned white fighting a tire on the hills, died at the hospital. He leaves a widow and four children. .. ... Christehurch, Last Night.
Deceased spent a fairly quiet night 011 j Wednesday, and during yesterday hopes were entertained of his ultimate recovery These were not destined to lw realised, and Mr. Moon succumbed to the shock to his system consequent on the severe burns he sustained. An inquest was held this evening, when a verdict was returned that death was caused by shock due to severe burns sustained' by the deceased.
AWFUL ACCIDENT. Stratford, Friday. A shocking accident occurred at Midhirst yesterday. A child of two yeats, the daughter of Mr. Evan Jones, at Salisbury-road, had both legs cut •>« bv a reaping-machine which her father was driving at the time. The little one was brought to Stratford Hospital, where she expired tins morning, the child was a favorite with her father, and followed him at work. How sho got into the machine is unaccountable.
