IS THAW SANE? New York, January 14. Mr Littleton, counsel for the de{ . e ®'® I 0 f Thaw, declared that insanity existed in the families of Thaw's father and mother, and that Thaw had suffered from fits of insanity from early childf hood. He had been stark, staring ma at the time of the tragedy.
Mr Littleton, Thaw's chief count s known as a capable lawyer and a Gillian, orator. At the Democratic National Convention of 1904, it was he who nominated Alton B. Parker for toft sideney. He began tNi practice ot law in 1891, and, moving to Dallas, Texas, served there for a term «w assistant prosecuting attorney. Lat« lie removed to Brooklyn, and at onco became a prominent figure in politic* and at the Bar. For four years he was assistant district attorney of Kin«'s County, and, under the first Mc{Mian Administration in Greater. New I York, was president of Broklyn boroueh. It is mentioned that at present Daniel O'Keilly and A. Russel Peabody are the only members of the former array of counsel credited with being in Thaw's services. Because ot Thaw's impetuosity it ,was not always | known during the former trial just who his attorneys might be the next _ day. It is the hope of the prisoner's fnenda that his "cause may not be hampered this time by the wrangles among counsel, which were frequent last winter. Mrs Thaw will he again called as a witness by the defence.
