Mr T. Hutchison, S.M., is to be farewelled this afternoon at 2.15 by the members of the Taranaki Law Society. In connection with the forthcoming Land Board election, Mr. Arthur Hickford, of Upper Waitotara, will be a candidate for the position of Crown tenant*' representative. Mr. Hick ford has been a Crown tenant for many years.

The Rev. J. E. Holloway, who has tilled the position of curate to the Anglican vicar in Hawera for two years, w taking up similar work in Wanganui. Mr. C. A. Ulrieh. news of whose death at Seattle, United States of America, has lalelv been received, was one. of the very first'to participate in the gold-dredging industry in New Zealand. He was a well-known figure in mining circles on the West Coast, where some of his goldsaving appliances were used with great success.

"Sir. V. G. Kimbcll, manager of tlio Hank of Australasia at Stratford, lias received notice that he will take charge of the hank's Hawcra branch on or about the 27th of January. Mr. E. M. Marmailnke Smith, manager at Wanganui, who is about to visit Europe Mr. C. W. Xichol'ls, for some years accountant at Stratford, and who at various times has filled the position of acting-manager during Mr. TCimbcll's absence, will lie appointed manager at Stratford. We understand that Mr. and Mm. Kimbell and family do not intend to remove their place of residence from Stratford.— At Cambridge last Thursday, Mr. j Percy Cannell, second son of the Rev. William Oannell, of Xew Plymouth, was married to Miss Winifred Vera Hooker, youngest daughter of Mr. James Hooker, of Pnkeroro, Cambridge, and formerly of Taranaki. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a dress of white embroidered nvnslin. The bridesmaid was Miss Tracy Hooker, sister of the bride. Mr. Ken. Hooker, brother of the bride, performed tho duties of best man.

A Wanganui wire states that the Rev. .7. A. Jacobs and the Rev. J. E. Holloway were yesterday inducted as vicar and assistant curate respectively of the parish of Wanganui. The Bishop of Wellington officiated.
