BUSH FIRES.

v FINE BUSH FIKED. Per Press Association. Gore, Last Night. Word hae come to hand that the Waikain bush, alwut thirty miles above the township of Waikaia, has been on lire for over a week. The lire is supposed to have originated through a person carelessly throwing a lighted match I amongst Bome dead manuka. The bush carries a lot of fine timber, birch of particularly durable quality being plentiful, and it only awaited railway facilities to make it extensively used. The fire has burnt back into the heart of the bush, and unless rain comes, which docs not at present appear probable, the bush will be completely destroyed. FIVE IRISHMEN SUSSING.
