■ ORCHARD PESTS. Wellington, Saturday. The Biological Division of the Agricultural Department states that shipments of fruit recently received in New Zealand have been much freer from orchard pests than was the case before the Department increased the stringency of the regulations and the inspection. DOMESTIC WORKERS* UNION. Dunedin, Last Night. Steps arc to be taken shortly to form a domestic workers' union in Duucdin on lines similar to those already formed in Wellington and Christchurch. DEMAND FOR ELECTRICITY. Dunedin, Last Night. Two of the most recent applicants to the Dunedin City Corporation for supplies of electricity for motive purposes are the Roslyn Tram Company and the Burnside Cement Company. The former, which proposes to run it's care by electric power, request 200 horse-power, and the latter 250 horse-power. BANKRUPTCY RETURNS. Dunedin, Last Night. The official bankruptcy returns for Dunedin district for the year ending 31st December show the number of bank" ruptcicK at twenty-four. Scheduled liabilities were £0421 IDs !)d,and scheduled assets .-CI7SMI 17s Id, showing a deficit for the year of £7022 2s Bd. For l!Wf> the figures wen—Bankruptcies twentyfive, liabilities £10.720 5s 3d, assets .£2733 10s 4d, leaving a deficiency of £7!l8li lis lOd, or over £350 more than this year.
