THE KAISERIN'S INFLUENCE. in the near future effect is likely io be given to the idea of the Herman Empress, who takes a keen interest in tlie practical education of German girls, that instruction in cooking and housekeeping should be made compulsory. The Kaiserin is herself a 9killed housewife, and has spared neither precept nor example in enforcing the necessity for a thorough knowledge by girls of household duties. The Prussian Ministry of Education has had under consideration for some time past the possibility of making instruction in cooking and other branches of household management obligatory in all the State schools for girls. The principal objection hitherto has been the heavy cost of erecting and fitting out a kitchen in every school for girls.
