LONDON MONEY MARKET. London, January 1. Consols are quoted at £B3 lis. Ol a £500,000 maturing South Australian 4 per cent, loan, £46,51)0 will be converted to 3'/ 3 per cent., £94,200 will be redeemed before maturity, and tliej balance paid in cash. The smallness of the conversion is due to the dearness of money, a higher rate of interest being obtainable in other securities.

CHRISTCHURCH STOCK MARKET. Christehurch, January 1. At the Addington live stock market yesterday there were moderate entries of stock and a fair attendance. Fat cattle showed a sharp decline in prices. Fat lambs were also easier, but store sheep sold much better. Fat sheep sold at about late prices. Pigs showed no change in price, and store and dairy cattle were dead of 9ale. .

Fat lambs.—Tegs made 15s 6d to 16s 3d, prime lambs 13* to 15s, lighter lis 3d to 12s Ud, the bulk oj the yarding selling at under 14s. Fat sheep—Prime wethers 17s to 19s Bd, lighter 15s #d to 16s fid, prime ewes 14s to 16s, extra to 17s, medium 12s to 13s Bd, aged 10s to lis 6d. Fat rattle. —Steers brought £6 os to £9 16s 6d, heifers £4 17s 6d to £ft, and cows £4 10s to £7, equal to 21s to 25s for prime, and medium 18s to 20s per 1001b. A medium yarding of vealers sold at 4s 6d to 50w, according to size and quality.

Store and dairy cattle.—Yearlings sold at 20s, two-year steers £2 5s to £2 15s, and dry cows 21V to £3 ss. Dairy cows nude £3 to £7, being mostly aged sort'. 'Pigs.—Choppers made 508 to £4; baconers 46s to 655, equal to 5d to 5%d per lb.; porkem 33s to 455, equal to ad per lb.; large stores 24s to 31s; suckers and weaners Us 6d to 15s.
