ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
Per Press Association. Dunedin, Thursday, •lack I'airoa, aged 4f, who waa a member of the first New Zealand Rugby team io visit Sydney, was drowned at the Maori Kaik at midnight on 31st December while getting out of a boat on to the wharf.
Auckland, Thursday. Miss (larvey. a visitor from Waihi, got oil' an electric tramear while it was in. motion, and was dashed heavily on the roadway. She' was injured on the heaU, and there is bleeding internally. Though her condition is serious, there is hope of her recovery.
Wellington, Thursday. An im|uest was opened to-day on the body nf Henry Krnest Davis, printer, who d'ed suddenly yesterday. Kvidewe showed that deceased had complained of not (eeling well after tasting t'wo small glares ot beer and lemonade. The inquest wa>s adjourned to enable the contents of the stomach to be analysed. Deceased was a clerk in the Lands Department,
