ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
Auckland, Last Night. A fireman named Mahouey, of the Jcamcr Largo uiw, was drowned in the harbor this morning. Constables Holland and Kenncy heard a splash oil' the Northcote ferry tee, and went to investigate. Constable Holland, seeing a man in the water, immediately sprang into (he harbor, and by the exercise of considerable skill and bravery succeeded in bringing him to the shore, where treatment was rendered by Dr. King. Mahoncy was then alive, but alter unrelaxed "attempts at resuscitation lie was taken to the hospital, where he expired shorllv after. Aslilmrton, List Night. NAilc attending a «lancc at Mount Somers on New Year's Kit, William Brown Howl, aged 4'J, married, died suddenly. An inquest will be held.
