SAWMILLERS' STRIKE THREATENED.

The main business beyond the appointment of officers was the decision as to what action should be taken in regard to wages. The annual report stated that two conferences with employers in this connection had been without promise of any benefits to workers. It was moved that the Union make a demand on employers for an increase" on the rate allowed in the log which has just expired (on December Ist), and if it were not acceded to the workers should go on strike. An "amemlnicnt was proposed that the new committee be empowered to deal with tho new log and with instructions to arrange for another conference with employers, failing a settleihont they to take such steps as deemed in the best interests of the society. The amendment was carried, only three voting for the motion.
