TARAXAKI J.C. SUMMER MEETIXU. SECOXD DAY. The Taraiiaki Jockey Club were favored with splendid weather for the concluding day's races, and (lie attendance was well above the average. Speculation was brisk, ami the club should be well satisfied with the result of their labors. Favorites won the majority of the races, which served to keep the public ill good spirits, and it was generally conceded that this meeting was the most enjoyable one of late years. The racing I was iirst-class, and several of the finishes were close and exciting. The following are the results: MAXIIOTUKU HANDICAP, of 50 sovs.; second horse 5 sovs. from the stake. Ued Star showed the way for three furlongs, and then retired, leaving Te Kuiti and Kilmarnock, who had rim up to the field, in the lead, with ISurUm and .Mikotahi close haiidv. Hounding the top bend Mikotahi eaiu'e fast on the outside, and when they straightened out for the run home' was within a length of the leaders, and joining issue at the distance stayed long enough t.i win l>y a gc.od half-length from Te Kuiti, willi Kilmarnock a length away in third j place. Fulminator got to Fishermaid's quarters before the straight was entered, and was loudly proclaimed the winner, but Fishermaid' easily held her lead, and coming away in the run home won comfortably by a length and a-half, Somali;,who came with a late run, being about the same distance away in third place. At the live furlong post Glengarill' ran up to the leaders and Caxsiopea could be seen coming fast, catching her field. "W. the head of the straight Cassiopea did not leave the issue in doubt, coming right away and winning easily by a length and a-half from Glengarill', with Mooshen half-a-dozen lengths further back, followed by Black Banner. (Grayl: Somali, 7.0 (.Nines). Cyrene was the first to show out from a splendid start and led past the stand, followed by Immolation. Somali and Fulminator, Showman and I'lilando bringing up the rear. Cyrene was steadied going out of the straight, and Immolation led from Fulminator along the back. Cyrene was shaken up coining round tin; bend, and quickly running (last the leader* won with ridiculous ease by about two lengths from Immolation, with Vhlando. who had come along with a good run. a length away third. Then followed Fulminator and Somali. Time, lmin 43 2-ssec. The winner was accorded a great ovation on returning to scale.
