TRUE LABOR WAKING UP.
Per Press Association. Wellington, Monday. J-he Furniture Trades Union has seceded from the Trades and Labor Council because of the attitude of the Council in connection with the election of the deputy representative of workers on the Arbitration Court. A letter was sent bv the Council expressing regret that some ot the Unions had been disloyal to the recommendations of the annual conference. this Inion decided to secede and passed a resolution to the effect that tiie Trades and Labor Council was not a bona tide labor body, inasmuch as it was controlled by others than practical trades unionists, who insisted on being recognised as the mouth-piece of trades unionism and labor generally and used eoeieive means to silence opposition. This, the resolution stated, meant a perpetual stale of strife, detrimental to the best interests of labor.
