GENEROUS GOVERNMENT GRANTS. Sydney, December 10. In view of the grant of £SOOO voted by the Commonwealth Government to Commander Shackleton's Antarctic expedition, the appeal for public subscriptions has been withdrawn. Wellington, December 10. Cabinet has voted £IOOO to assist Commander Shackleton's Antarctic expedition.
