M'Nab, Minister lor L.ands, gave liie following iiil'ol - - maLiun regarding Uie closer settlement of land: —ike estates available arc: Real estate in Auckland district, 171,150 acres, to be opened lor selection on - January 28. The area sot apart for prelereiice to married applicants with families is 505 acres. Puurere Settlement, ill llawkes Bay d strict, 2810 acres, will be opened lor selection on January ti. The area set apart lor preference lor married applicants with families is 72(i acres. Raumata Settlement, in llawkes Bay, 35UU acres, will be opened for selection on January 28. The area set apart for preference to married applicants with lamilics is 1133 acres. Olekaike Settlcmiit, Otago district, 2tl,U:is acrs, will be opened for selection on February 3. An area of 0750 acres will be set apart for preference for married applicants with families. in each settlement a portion of tile area has also been set apart for preference to applicants who have been unsuccessful in previous ballots. The ordinary Crown lands to be opened within the next six months are —ln Auckland ill,ooo acres, llawkes Hay 15,000 acres, Taranaki 31i,000 acres. .Marlborough 24.000 acres, makin" a total of 114,000 acres. ° In land for settlements estate, Auckland contributes 20,000 acres, llawkes Bay Hi,ooo acres, Otago o(i!)7 acres, making a total of 39,(i!)7 acres, exclusive of estates previously mentioned.
