COMPENSATION FOR DEATH.
Per i'ress Association. (Jhristehurcli, Friday. At the Supreme Court, Mr. Justice Chapman gave hit. reserved judgment in the case I'oung v. the City Council, a claim for compensation, for the death of plaintiff's husband at the Christchurch railway station yard. It was contended that sullicient notice had not been given of the action. His Honor held that although the notice was defeceive, there were suUicient grounds in accordance with the provisions of the Act to waive the notice. The ell'eet of His Honor's decision is that judgment has been enpending the decision of lluy'r 8..55 h , tered lor plaintiff for £UOO damages — the jury's award, which was held over pending the decision of points of law.
