IMPOiiTAivT STATEMENT BY THE PIUME MINISTER.

Per Press Association. Diiucdin, Jjiist Night. During a speech at the Harbor Jloiird excursion to-day, the Prime Minister made an important announcement in connection with the recent destruction of Parliament Buildings. He said one of tin! troubles the (Jovernment had to face was the providing of proper housing for the present and future representatives of the people of the Dominion. I lie matter was one that probably Parliament would have to be consulted on uu one material point, at any rale. He thought it would be well to make a change of site, subject to the opinion of I lis lOxcellcncy, who had ever been most courteous and ready in meeting the wi.-dies of the Government and country, and he (Sir Joseph) believed that the liovernor would be favorable, in this matter to any propositi made by the Prime Minister and his colleagues. He believed the most careful consideration would result in the conclusion, that they .should avail themselves of the large area of land on which (iovernment House stands. It was an area more suited for Parliamentary Buildings than for Government House, and it seemed to him the time was opportune to build somc- ! thing that would be for all time a credit ' to the Dominion anil to it.s people. •
