At the annual oi" the Wellington Anti-Opium .■m.iuci.iuuli to night, tiie name ul unit body was altereu to the Anti-Opium Association of >,e\v Zealand. it was resolved, on the motion of llr Justice Button, "I'liat this meeting recognises with shame anil humiliation the awml crime of which our nation is guilty in still forcing the Chinese to accept vast (juuntities of opium grown and manufactured in India, and notwithstanding that the House of Commons iias twice by resolution declared that the trade in opium is morally indefensible." in speaking to the motion, Air. Justice .Button deprecated the antiAsiatic feeling in the community, pointing out that Christ and His Apostles were Asiatics.
