THE TECHNICAL SCHOOL.

BOROUGH COUNCIL'S CONTRIBUTION. The Finance Committee of the Borough Council recommended to Monday night's meeting that the £SO provided "in the Estimates be paid to the Taranaki Education Board for the encouragement and increasing the odk-icney of technical classes at the New Plymouth I Technical School. In moving the adoption of the report, the Mayor said that the Education Board had applied lor the money some little time ago, hut the Council's finances had not then been in a position to warrant the payment. No seconder. The Mayor was about to put the motion when Councillor Mills moved a further amendment to reduce the amount by £25. If the Council was determined to vote away money, £25 would sufficee. Councillor Collis Seconded pro forma in order to get in the remark that if £SO was only a drop in the ocean, as stated by Councillor Mills, £25 would bo still more imelesß. The amendment was lost, Councillors Mills, Collis, and West supporting it. Councillor Mill? moved a further amendment that £25 be paid to the Education Board and £25 spent in making decent approaches to the school. The Mayor ruled the amendment out of order.

The motion was then put and carried-
