He was conlident that the scheme would shortly sucThe, Hon. W. P. Hewt*, liigu Commissioner for New Zealand, announced that New Zealand was prepared to Contribute an ample subsidy. Captain Collins, the Commonwealth agent, mentioned that a reasonable cost Would be a factor in the situation. Australia was in sympathy with all Imperial movements. Lord Brassey suggested that the Can-adian-Pacific Kailway Company might financially cooperate.
INTERVIEW WITH THE PREMIER. Per Press Association. ; Wellington, Last Night. Sir Joseph Ward returned to Wellington from Auckland to-night. Sir Joseph states there is no new developments in regard to the All-Red mail service. The Mew Zealand Government some time •go advised the High Commissioner that it is prepared to join in a satisfactory service with Canada and Australia. The project has not made any advance so far. As to the American steam service, the Oceanic Company is still awaiting the decision of the United States Government with regard to extending the subsidies under which it previously ran to New Zealand. Nothing has been heard on this point.
