WELLINGTON RECLAMATION PROPOSAL.
Per Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. It is considered practically certain that the proposal which has been before committees of the City Council and the Harbor Board to reclaim ,a wide area of Evans Bay will be taken up shortly and eventually carried to a successful issue. The idea is to win from the sea at the head of Evans Bay, an inlet of the harbor, land suitable for the carrying on of industries requiring considerable ground-space, it being considered that the provision of such land would stimulate industries now in operation and encourage the starting of new manufactures. The scheme involves the reclamation -of over a hundred acres, with the erection of wharves, facilities for boatbuilding, etc. The Harbor Board has agreed to the scheme, and it is anticipated that the Council will endorse it at next Thursday's meeting.
