The Daily Mail's Rio Janeiro correspondent says tlr.it an attempt to overthrow the Government of Minns Giraes under the leadership of Mugale, a native of Hio Grande, aided by British, Canadian, and American filibusters, failed after a premature skirmish in the State of Bahia, wherein Philip Davies, a retired British major, was killed, and Lieutenant George Gordon wounded. All were captured. A sum of '£120,000 was raised in London and New York for the filibusters, who landed separately as traders. : ,
