Per Press Association. Westport, Last Night. At a meeting of Die Westport regatta committee to-uiglit it was decideu to raise the prize-money for" the regatta on 2sth December in the senior ioura to £4O (first £35, second £5). The total prize-money is over £l2O. Wellington, November 29. The I'ostiuaster-Ueneral has approved a design for a new general post office to be erected in Wellington. The design is of the classic renaissance type. It is intended to build it in granite or other New Zealand stone with a steel frame, fireproof in .construction, and earthquake resisting. The cost of the new building is estimated at about £75,000. ft is expected that the orlico will be one of the most imposing structures in the Dominion. Th'ei main points in the Arbitration Court's award in the building trade dispute are;— The week's work is fixed at 45 hours; the rate of wages is to be Is ly 2 d per hour; labourers engaged in the construction of scaffolding get Id an hour more. Dunedin, November 29. The stallion Quarryman, recently leased by Mr. McLean from Sir G. Clifford, took fright at a thunderstorm which passed over Warrington yesterday, and got faUviiy staked when jumping a fence.
Oamaru, November 29. Police officers raided Boland's Papakai'o Hotel and seized two cases of whisky which were found in an outhouse. A prosecution will follow. I
