ANOTHER PERFORMER.

An English gentleman was once Ha veiling in Chicago, and one clay, while he was having his lunch, his valet brought him in a card, and said that the owner of same desired an interview. The gentleman, not recognising the name, but feeling rather curious to know the reason and nature of the man's errand, said that he. would see him. The valet brought the man in, who said: "Ah, you don't know me, because I am a stranger; but 1 have in this pillbox (which he had in his hand) a most wonderful thing, the like of which have not been seen before, namely, a performing flea." As there, was going to be a social evening, the gentleman thought it would be a good idea to take the professor, and allow him to exhibit his wonderful flea. When all the company were assembled, the professor placed the box on a small table, and, taking off the lid, he said : "Henry, come out of the box," and out the flea came. "Henry, stand on your head," and, to the surprise of the company, the flea stood on its head. All at once it dashed up a lady's sleeve, and the professor after it. After a little excitement, he managed to capture the runawav, and placed it again on the table.

"Henry, get back into the box;" but "Henry" never moved. "Henry, get back into the box at once," he repeated ; but Ilenrv remained motionless as before.

Judge of the surprise of the company when the professor w< nt up lo the lady up whose sleeve the Ilea had previously wandered, and said :

"Kxeusc me, miss, this is not mv Henry."
