NATIONAL INSURANCE COMPANY.

Per Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. The annual meeting of the National I Insurance Company was held to-day. The chairman (Mr. J. M. Ritchie), in moving tlie adoption of the annual report, said the year had been considerably poorer than the previous year, losses having been £21,830 greater, or an increase of about 50 per cent. There were serious conflagrations in New Smith Wales, also an unusual loss in isliips. The increase of net premiums was about £4OOO, and interest on investments increased by about £OOO, while loans on mortgages increased by -£21,600. The sum of £IO,OOO was carried to reserve, as against £15,000 last year. The company added £II,OOO to its funds generally, making the total of capital reserves and undivided profits £340,380. The report was adopted and the retiring directors (Sir J. Mills and J, JI. Ritchie) re-elected.
